Design Thinking
Design Thinking (DT) is an intricate process that students can learn over time and utilise anytime to solve complex problems and manage large and small projects.
“Design processes require students to identify and investigate a need or opportunity; generate, plan and realise designed solutions; and evaluate products and processes. Consideration of economic, environmental and social impacts that result from designed solutions are core to design thinking.” (The Australian Curriculum)
Design thinking is an effective tool and skill that can be used by teachers and students during Inquiry Based Learning, Project Learning and STEM projects. Further, design thinking skills are key life skills which students can employ in any domain and in any situation that requires a solution. At THYNK Academy we aim for students to apply design thinking in their real-life problem-solving and indeed across all learning areas.
